I’ve always been drawn to design…
From the age of 5, I was mesmerized watching my parents bring my favorite characters, like Barney, to life on paper.
In grade school — and for longer than I’d like to admit — my friend and I swapped out role-playing with Barbies for designing their spaces.
In college, I spooked my parents when I showed them what I was up to — plastering a giant onion that was slowly taking over my dorm room. I eased their concerns (just a little) with a few design awards, including winning a postcard contest to represent the Fine Arts School and a poster contest for the highly esteemed School of Architecture Ball.
At my first job at Yum! Brands, my boss helped guide me through the decision of choosing between a career in development or design. Ultimately, I chose design (obviously), but I’ve always maintained a love for the logic and problem-solving that development brings.
At my next job at TOMS Shoes, I heard the term “UX” for the first time and was immediately intrigued. I took a class and with a little more discipline and expertise than I once had, I made the small but exciting switch from a purely digital design focus to a UX design focus.
In my next few roles, including at startups and Atlassian, I naturally gravitated toward being a strategic design partner, seamlessly blending a product mindset into my approach. I found joy in leveraging both qualitative and quantitative data to shape strategy, running scrappy experiments to test hypotheses, and thoughtfully infusing delight into the user experience.
Now, I’m excited to create meaningful, thoughtful software — building things that genuinely help people rather than just adding to the noise.
In the meantime, you’ll find me hanging with my husband and little furballs, dabbling in woodworking, indulging in awful horror movies and competition reality with friends, soaking up as much comedy as I can, sneaking in moments of nature, and leveling up my interior design game — from Barbie dream houses as a kid to my own now.
